Services
Three connected areas, and a clear statement of where my work stops.
Information technology
I am not an IT manager and I do not run systems. What I have done for twenty years is sit on the client side of that relationship: researching the options, deciding what the business actually needs, and directing a managed service provider to implement it.
That is a specific and frequently missing role. Most small firms either have nobody who can evaluate what an MSP recommends, or they have somebody technical enough to implement but not positioned to say no. I have spent enough time close to the work to know when an answer is wrong, and enough time accountable for the budget and the outcome to make the call.
In practice:
- Researching and evaluating options, then making a recommendation you can defend
- Vendor and MSP selection, negotiation, and holding a provider to what you are paying for
- Security posture questions: what to ask for, what to insist on, and what is theater
- Translating between the technical answer and the business decision
- Implementation stays with your MSP or your internal IT team, not with me
Artificial intelligence
Evaluating where AI genuinely earns its place, and putting the governance around it to use it responsibly. Platform selection, rollout, and the practical guardrails that have to exist before a firm handling confidential information turns a tool loose on client work. This is grounded in operator and administrator experience, including rolling out an enterprise AI platform end to end.
Business consulting
Process, operations, and the strategy questions underneath both.
- Firm and business operations strategy and execution
- Operational financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis
- HR and team leadership
- Facilities planning and office transitions
- Vendor and contract negotiation, advisory
- Business intelligence and reporting with Power BI
- Change management for complex, multi-stakeholder transitions
What I do not do
These apply to every engagement, regardless of what is asked for. Knowing where the line sits is part of the value.
- No legal advice. I am not an attorney and hold no bar admission.
- No tax or accounting advice. I am not a CPA. Financial work is operational reporting and process, not tax or attest work.
- No data privacy advice as legal or compliance guidance. You are directed to the data privacy terms in the platform agreements you sign, not to my characterization of them.
- No direct purchasing on your behalf. Advisory and negotiation only. You execute the purchase, and the account is yours.
- No cybersecurity incident response.
- No systems engineering work.
- Data migration is planned and overseen, then executed by your internal IT or MSP team rather than by me directly.
